Chocolate Good For Heart Patients



Chocolate may be considered a sweet treat but taken in small amounts, chocolate can help prevent heart disease complications.

Flavonoids have been known for some time to help prevent coronary heart disease. Dark chocolate, has high levels of antioxidants called flavonoids. These help to remove free radicals in the blood.

Studies conducted in London discovered that cocoa has antiinflammatory effects which may contribute protection against atherosclerosis, which is considered a low grade inflammatory disease.

More studies by Scientists in Barcelona, Spain, found that test participants using cocoa for reduction of inflammation also had higher levels of HDL, the good cholesterol.
