Healthy Diet Prevents Diabetes



A healthy diet can prevent diabetes or delay it's onset for a decade or more.

Poor dietary habits in the US have led to 24 million adults with type 2 diabetes and 57 million more at risk.

According to the U.S. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases weight loss and exercise can lower the risk of getting diabetes.

Participants in studies showed that those taking metformin, a glucose reducing drug, had an 18 percent reduction in developing diabetes but those who ate healthier diets had a 34 percent reduction.

Eating a nutritional diet and maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for good health as well as preventing disease.
