Tomatoes Prevent Skin Cancer



Eating tomato dishes can help prevent sunburn which can cause premature aging of skin and maybe even skin cancer.

Studies conducted at the Manchester and Newcastle Universities in Britain discovered that a mere five tablespoons of tomato paste daily protects skin. Samples of skin from test individuals had higher levels of pro-collagen. Collagen is what give healthy skin it's elasticity and prevents wrinkles.

Lycopene is a natural nutrient found in tomatoes and is found in a higher concentration in cooked foods than raw. Lycopene has been found to lower cancer risks and now it has been found to boost the level of pro-collagen in skin.

Tomatoes are easy to grow and prepare in many delicious dishes.
