Endangered Species Threatened By Mosquitoes

With a little help from humans, mosquitoes are threatening several endangered species.

In the early 1800's the house mosquito was brought to the Hawaiian islands and proved fatal for native birds.

According to scientists from the University of Leeds and the Zoological Society of London, the same could happen to several species of birds, marine iguana, and the giant tortoise on the Galápagos Islands.

The rise in tourism to the Galápagos Islands is the problem with mosquitoes being transported on planes and ships.
